Thursday/Sunday football next season
|
Putting aside how it may effect our progress on the pitch domestically, on a personal level does the Thursday/Sunday thing bother you? Will it put you out of sync with private arrangements, etc, whether that's going to the games or watching the games on a 50" Sony in a big fuck off armchair?
As a guide, if say we get out of the group stages and progress a further 2 rounds that is TEN Thursday/Sunday's..

ioc - No, don't really efffect me much at all, but I prefer to watch us on a Saturday rather than wait until the next day. One other thing to consider is these games are usually played at 4pm on the Sunday so many will clash with a big fixture no doubt, so if you like watching your football, as some do, you will miss quite a lot of 'big games' that you may usually watch.

I can't make Saturday games so this would be a right result for me.

Tournament should be two-legged straight knockout. Would be much better.

I wouldn't be gutted if we went out before the group stages.
So looking forward to Saturday games, Sunday's put a different spin on it.

Just hope we take it seriously.... last season was fair enough, Slav needed to see the lay of the land, but too many youngsters and we will get turned over in the 3rd qualifying round... the Andorran pub teams will be out by then.

No different to playing weds/sat and it's helped Spurs progress as a Club. Sevilla have embraced it with great effect and that's how I hope we take it
If you don't embrace it then you can have no gripe if the Club show little ambition and look to finish no higher than 8th

Thursday evenings are a result for me and all other Irons living in the Middle East.
Our weekends are Friday-Saturday so a few cheeky Thursday day offs to travel either home or away works very nicely.

PD
How is this going to affect you (or are you just rabble-rousing, you scamp?)
Thursdays better, Sundays not for me. Hoping for a short trip or two in the early rounds, before October at least, when tutorials start.

Sunday easier travel for me when occasionally we go to games. Wife has yoga Thursday evening leaving me to watch tv games in peace or go to match straight from work and not be missed.

My football team plays its games on a Saturday, so more Sundays with West Ham would be a result, means I can play more!

Because I have a personality disorder which makes it very difficult for me to plan things in advance cough son. Holidays, tickets for football, all a nightmare for me. Hoping to get one with the old man for the following season but fuck knows if that's going to be possible

Sundays are shit for train travel as they (and Bank Holidays) are always when they do engineering works. Could add hours to travel times. Also for me, it'll quite possibly interrupt my F1 viewing. So hopefully we'll only get Monday matches after EL games.

One McAvennieeeeee 11:01 Sun May 22 Re: Thursday/Sunday football next season It's It's a poxy tournament if truth be known. Proper shit. I can take or leave it.
Agree with that although its a great opportunity for some of the youngsters to get a run out which should help the teams long term development. Plus more opportunitys to see us play at the OS seeing as it will be ballache getting tickets

Thurs / Sun didn't seem to do Spurs any harm this year... fucked up after they went out of EL.
In Nordrveit, Ogbonna, Payet, Kouyate we have players with plenty of European experience and no doubt they will be supplemented with more additions.... looking forward to it.
Personally quite like Sunday games... travel usually easier.
